Atlas Rank — Sector Rotation

Started with ₹10,00,000 · max 10% per position (10 slots).

System-designed strategy

How this strategy works

A plain-English description of exactly what this portfolio does — its buy and sell rules, universe, and how positions are chosen and sized. Generated from the live strategy parameters, so it always matches what is actually running.

Sector Rotation — catching sectors as they turn, before they lead.

Buy rule
Sectors are ranked by how much their strength rank has IMPROVED over the last 63 sessions, starting from a below-median base. A name enters when its sector is among the 3 fastest improvers and it is top-3 there by composite.
Sell rule
Holds until its sector stops improving (and hasn't graduated to an outright leader), or the name drops past the buffer. The buffer is deliberate hysteresis — winners are left to run instead of being churned out on small rank wiggles, which also lets gains reach the long-term tax rate.
Universe
Trades stocks drawn from the Atlas-scored Nifty 500, evaluated every session.
Which names
When more names qualify than there are open slots, the highest Atlas composite wins the slot.
Position sizing
Starts 100% in cash and buys the qualifying set at the next session's close (no look-ahead). Each position capped at 10% (~10 slots), execution costs in the NAV, FIFO tax ledger on every sale.

This rulebook was chosen by the system’s walk-forward search, not hand-written — the exact filters above are what won on out-of-sample data. See the Learning log below for how it got here and what it rejected.

Execution costs of ₹14,43,199 are already inside this curve. Realized tax (FIFO, STCG/LTCG netted per FY): ₹28,94,697 → post-tax total return +63.7% vs +353.2% pre-tax.

Two curves: With 10% stop (the live rule — exit any position that closes 10% below its entry) vs No stop. On this book the stop is a net win — it cuts drawdown and lifts return by cutting real losers early.

Survivor-only backtest. The universe is today’s Atlas-scored names applied backwards, so stocks that delisted or collapsed never appear. Real drawdowns would be worse — read these returns as an optimistic upper bound, not a promise.

Learning log

How the policy has evolved

Each weekly walk-forward cycle: candidate policies are scored on a training window, validated out-of-sample, and a challenger is adopted only if it beats the champion’s excess return over NIFTY 500 while keeping max drawdown below the benchmark’s. Every evaluation and change is journaled here with its evidence.

No policy cycles yet — the weekly walk-forward run writes here.
